What I build

  • Collections and dynamic pages tied to real schemas (not one-off Editor hacks)
  • Backend and HTTP functions for server-side logic and secure endpoints
  • API integrations that keep Wix in the middle of your stack
  • Maps and store/branch locators with real location data
  • Permissioned workflows so the right roles see the right records
  • Internal dashboards and member-facing tools on Wix data

Who it’s for

  • Enterprises stuck on Editor / Studio limits for data volume, permissions, or integrations
  • Agencies that need Velo depth for a client build, not another brochure theme
  • Teams with real catalogs, directories, or member data — not a five-page marketing site

If a handful of static pages and a contact form are enough, you do not need Velo. Hire for Velo when the product lives in the data and the workflows.

Process

01

Brief. What must work in production: data, roles, failure paths, integrations.

02

Data model. Collections, relationships, and who can read or write what.

03

Velo build. Pages, backend/HTTP functions, APIs, maps or dashboards as scoped.

04

QA. Permissions, empty states, and failure paths — not just the happy path.

05

Handoff. Editors keep using the Wix dashboard where that still fits; you get a clear map of what is code vs content.

Astro + Directus (CMS and performance bar). Not a Wix Velo build. Shown here as agency proof of CMS/performance work, separate from the Velo client deliveries above.

FAQ

Is Velo the same as Wix Studio?

No. Studio is the visual site builder. Velo is the code layer for custom logic, collections behavior, backend functions, and integrations when the visual tools stop.

How is Velo different from Wix Headless?

Velo stays inside Wix. Headless keeps Wix as CMS/Blog and puts a custom frontend in front. Pick Headless for a code-owned public UI; pick Velo when the product and workflows live in Wix.

What's included in a typical Velo engagement?

Scoped data model, Velo implementation, integrations in the brief, permission checks, and a handoff map of dashboard vs code.

Do editors still use the Wix dashboard?

Yes for content and many collection fields. Custom logic, permissions, and APIs stay in code.

What should I ask a Wix Velo developer before hiring?

How they model collections and permissions, how they test failure paths, which APIs they have shipped, and whether they hand off a clear dashboard-vs-code map.
